Makeup Prompt - Write about when you knew something was over (or had begun)
I was watching the Super Bowl to be remembered, Super Bowl LI. 2017 was going to be the year that the Falcons would finally get to hoist the Lombardi Trophy and get our very own Super Bowl ring for the city of Atlanta! My family were all laying on the couch, watching it happen. Matt Ryan was playing amazing, having everything go their way in pure domination throughout the first half with a commanding 28 - 3 lead going into halftime.
After a very underwhelming halftime show, I thought the game was already over after Tom Brady finally scored a touchdown on a lengthy drive that wiped 6 of the remaining 23 minutes off the clock, and some well deserved karma after Brady's long reign at number one came when the Patriots missed the extra point kick. After the Patriots failed a third quarter onside kick, all Atlanta needed to do was to score, once.
They failed to score for the rest of the game, and the game went into overtime. I was in disbelief after Brady came back from down 25 points in the Super Bowl to send it to overtime after Brady and the Pats put on a comeback masterclass. I already knew how wrong I was 90 minutes over from the moment the coin flipped in the air for the first possession of the sudden death frame. We never even touched the ball in overtime. 34-28, final score after Brady scored in overtime to put the Falcons' dreams to bed. We haven't gotten it that good since.
